Dubai International Airport World's Busiest A380 Hub
Dubai International Airport has been named the world's leading hub for Airbus A380 operations in 2014, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reports citing Dubai Airports 2014 Yearbook.
The airport had 15,098 flights served by the aircraft to 39 destinations around the world last year, a rise from 10,608 services to 26 cities in the previous year.
The figures are based on published flight schedule data in the airline industry.
Growth in A380 movements was driven by expansion of the Emirates A380 fleet, with more than 50 of the Airbus planes currently in operation.
The next busiest A380 airport last year was London's Heathrow with 5,434 flights to 11 cities followed by Singapore's Changi Airport with 5,398 flights to 18 destinations.
The Dubai Airports 2014 Yearbook provides an in-depth update of the organisation's expansion plans at Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport.
